Youth Program

IMG_1341.jpeg

The Grappling Dynamics Youth Program was developed in an effort to instruct children in the areas of competition and real-life self-defense, while at the same time promoting health and fitness in a fun learning environment.  Our instructors incorporate specific techniques in the areas of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, wrestling, as well as general self-defense.  Along with learning these specific martial arts, we focus on overall athleticism, combining our martial arts training with motor skills development.  We encourage our students to test their skills and raise their training to the next level by participating in tournaments as members of our Eagles Competition Team.

Additionally, all Grappling Dynamics staff and instructors hold current CPR/BLS and SafeSport certifications. Character Development Our classes provide an environment in which children are able to expand key areas of social development. The students are required to listen to instructions, be responsible for themselves and fellow classmates, and to be respectful both on and off the mat.  Each student is considered a key member of our team.  They are taught to encourage each other and learn from their mistakes.  Each class is structured towards building leadership traits. Some of the leadership traits we emphasize to help build character are: Integrity, Dependability, Tact, Loyalty, and Endurance, just to name a few. Health Benefits Many health organizations recommend that children participate in physical activity for at least an hour daily.  Physical activity has been associated with increased academic performance, self- concept, mood, and mental health. The promotion of physical activity and exercise will also improve quality of life. Over the years, state requirements for daily physical education have eroded..  More than a third of young people in grades 9-12 do not regularly engage in vigorous- intensity physical activity.  The Eagles program was developed in an effort to counteract these trends by encouraging our students to maintain a healthy lifestyle, stay fit, and to develop the habit and desire to be physically active on a daily basis. Athletic Development Martial Arts and Self Defense techniques are the primary focus of the Eagles program, but another key area of focus is athletic development. We supplement our martial arts techniques with drills and activities, that are designed to build on, and improve overall athletic ability.  We have specific drills and exercises that we utilize in our program that are great cross-training tools, which can be applied to any other sport or activity. These exercises will help to improve and develop: Agility, Balance, Coordination, Strength, Flexibility, Speed, and Cardiovascular Endurance. Class Description Core classes The core of our curriculum is based on a comprehensive training program that incorporates Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling, Judo, and submission grappling. This is designed to be a year-round program, cycling systematically through the training manual several times a year. Rotating Training Modules Along with our core classes, there will be rotating training modules covering other areas of martial arts and physical training. This allows the students to be exposed to other artforms and increase specific areas of training to supplement their core classes and increase their knowledge and athletic diversity. These modules include: boxing/kickboxing, principles of situational self-defense, collegiate wrestling, and athletic performance training.
